We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Anca Ferche was awarded the NSF CAREER Award for her project, "Advancing the Assessment of Existing Reinforced Concrete Structures: From the Material to the Structural Level." Her work focuses on understanding the combined effects of long-term deterioration mechanisms, including steel reinforcement corrosion, alkali-silica reaction, and freeze-thaw cycles. This research aims to provide engineers with a comprehensive framework for structural assessment. Additionally, Dr. Ferche's project includes initiatives to inspire future engineers through hands-on learning and community engagement, promoting excellence in structural engineering.
The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.
