Research Engineer

Hwa-Ching “Dennis” Wang is a dedicated research engineer with over a decade of experience in structural engineering. His passion lies in advancing knowledge and nurturing students in the field.

Specializing in accelerated bridge construction, reinforced/prestressed concrete behavior, and large-scale experiments, Dennis manages multiple research projects funded by TxDOT. His expertise encompasses various aspects, including strut-and-tie modeling, precast column solutions, and UHPC applications. With a commitment to excellence, he mentors graduate students, guiding them through experimental work and numerical analysis processes.

Dennis's academic journey began at Purdue University, where his Ph.D. research focused on reinforced concrete knee joints, culminating in extensive experimentation and finite element modeling. His master's research at National Taiwan University explored post-tensioned precast segmental bridge columns in seismic regions, showcasing his versatility in tackling complex structural challenges.

Prior to academia, Dennis served as an engineer and bridge inspector in Taiwan, where he managed research projects and construction endeavors. Notably, he spearheaded a bridge health monitoring initiative, enhancing safety protocols in the face of natural hazards.
